Happy New Year, NASPO members! It is fitting that I begin my tenure as NASPO President as we turn the page on the calendar and welcome 2019. This certainly is the start of an exciting new year in my life and I am honored and humbled for the opportunity to serve as your NASPO President.
At its core, NASPO is a member services organization, and everything it does is geared toward the ultimate goal of elevating the profession of public procurement by empowering members to achieve success and nurturing the leadership potential that each of you possess.
As state procurement professionals, we are all in the business of fostering good relationships, being transparent, and providing excellent customer service. As NASPO members, we expect no less from our association. And as your President, I am committed to transparency, meeting the needs of our members and providing exceptional customer service to all of you.
Throughout the year, you’ll have many opportunities to attend NASPO conferences, receive online trainings through Procurement U, participate in educational and informational webinars, join in regional council calls and much, much more. I encourage you to take advantage of all the many benefits your NASPO membership has to offer.
If you have not already done so, I hope you will register soon for our first major event of 2019; the NASPO Exchange in Denver, Colorado, April 9-11. If you are new to NASPO or have not previously attended an Exchange conference, I urge you to do so in 2019. The NASPO Exchange provides a truly unique environment for state procurement officials and supplier representatives to develop relationships that support effective, efficient, transparent and fair procurements. To learn more about the 2019 NASPO Exchange, visit here.
In addition to the Exchange, in 2019 NASPO will return to the practice of hosting four regional conferences, beginning with the Midwestern Region, May 21-23, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To learn more about each of the regional conferences, as well as all of NASPO’s future scheduled events, visit here. And while you’re checking out the calendar of upcoming events, I encourage you to watch the featured conferences and events video to get a sense of all that you gain when you attend a NASPO conference.
I look forward to working with the NASPO Board of Directors, committee chairs and Regional Council leadership in 2019 on what I know will be a terrific year. I appreciate the time and attention that each of you dedicate to NASPO and your willingness to serve in a variety of leadership roles. The unique perspectives and objectives you will bring to our association benefit all of us.
And to my fellow NASPO members, it is truly an honor for me to serve as your NASPO President for 2019. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity. It’s going to be a great year!
